Frankincense is known as a protective fortifier. One of the ancient world's most highly prized substances, the fumy ceremonial aroma of Frankincense has been used since antiquity. In Ancient Egypt it was used in rejuvenating face masks, cosmetics and perfumes.

Frankincense, also known as Olibanum, is collected from the sweet-smelling tears of resin shed by Boswellia carterii,small trees on the Arabian peninsula. The resin is collected and steam distilled to produce this essential oil.

Oil Properties:
The oil emits a haunting, balsamic woody aroma with spicy tone and its characteric scent is a Base Note, being slow to vapourise.

Applications:
For the temporary relief of Bronchial Cough and the symptoms of Catarrh- Inhalation: 5 drops (1/4mL) in 1 litre of boiling water. Massage: 5 drops (1/4mL) into 10mL of carrier oil. Apply to chest, back and neck twice daily.

For the relief of Stress & Tension- Vaporise: 5 drops (1/4mL) in water in an oil burner. Bath: 5 drops (1/4mL) dispersed in bathwater.

Assists in management of Inflamed or Mature Skin- Skin or Facial Oil: 5 drops (1/4mL) into 10mL Jojoba or Apricot Kernel carrier oil. Gently apply twice daily.
