Vitamin C is an important component for the support of connective tissues including elastin, fibronectin, proteoglycans, bone matrix and elastin-associated fibrillin. Vitamin C plays an important role in supporting collagen and procollagen.

Rosehips are a major source of natural vitamin C. In addition to vitamin C, rose hips contain such carotenoids as beta-carotene, lycopene, zeaxanthin, rubixanthin, and lutein. They also contain flavonoids, catechins, polyphenols, procyanidins and pectins.

Vitamin C is required for at least 300 metabolic functions in the body, including tissue growth and repair, adrenal gland function, and healthy gums. It aids in the production of anti-stress hormones and interferon, an important immune-system protein, and is needed for the metabolism of folic acid, tyrosine, and phenylalanine.
