Anti-fungals

Suffering from fungal skin conditions

Fungi belong to the class of microorganism. There are about 1.5 million fungi identified until now. They are present almost everywhere and can be airborne or water borne. Many are isolated from soil and other materials. They are a part of the ecosystem, but however at times due to their mutation factor they turn pathogenic. Pathogenicity is a term used when they cause any harm to a living body. The harm is done through an infection. Fungal infections are quiet common and in most cases are on skin surface. There is a slim chance that a fungus will infect internally. The infectious fungi upon infesting the skin start growing and damage the skin area. They feed on the keratin and multiply. This causes skin irritations and may lead to severe skin damages. Fungal patches will start appearing and there will be a lot of dry skin observed. This is a common symptom of all fungal infections.

The Commonly Seen Fungal Infections are:

  • Aspergillosis.
  • Candiasis.
  • Ringworm.
  • Athlete’s foot.
  • Mucormycosis.

Fungi can infect anyone as it is omnipresent. Basically, they can be transferred through air and water. Any person who is weak in immune system may contact the infection. Sick people are more prone than the healthier ones. Most of the fungal infections are opportunistic. Workplace environment should be clean and tidy. Moist areas attract fungi. Unhealthy lifestyle is a major contributor too.

  • Avoid working at places that can take up infections.

Above are may be some of the precautions that you can take. However, there are permanent solutions for such infections. Anti-fungal cream, lotions and capsules are available readily in the market. Anti-fungal cream and lotions aim at the external infections whereas capsules will help fight infection internally. All the antifungal cream, lotion and capsules consist of an antibiotic that will respond to the particular infection. These antibiotics will fight the infection and basically kill the fungal colonies on the skin. Most common infection like Candiasis is battled using skin creams and sometimes lotions. The anti-fungal cream is applied on to the affected area on a regular basis. The antibiotic present in the cream will destroy the fungus. One more aspect to keep in mind is about the development of anti-fungal resistance. It is always advisable to see a physician and get the right kind of antibiotic prescribed. Self-prescription may lead to resistance and difficult to get rid of the infection.
